6. The Lucky Stars

  • Often overlooked in the statistics the Lucky Stars are drawn from a separate machine to the 5 Main Ball Numbers but still have their own stats and information.

  • When Euromillions began back in 2004 there was only 9 Lucky Stars to choose from.

  • In 2011 a further two numbers, 10 & 11 were introduced followed by the introduction of No. 12 in 2016.

  • This didn't make a huge amount of difference as it only increased the Lucky Star permutations to 66.

  • With the introduction of No. 12 in 2016 it's better to look at the stats from that year onward rather than comparing those couples containing No. 12 in them with all of the others which go back to 2004.

  • This graphic isn't about which is most popular, since any two Lucky Stars can be drawn at any time, it's more about looking at how they emerge during the year and taking a punt on those that haven't been drawn yet.

  • But always bear in mind that not every one of the 66 Lucky Stars Pairs are drawn in any given year.

  • Because there's only 12 Lucky Star Numbers they tend to cycle through quite quickly so keep an eye on the Lucky Star Cycle chart below the main graphic.
